Virginia L. Turner, age 85, passed away on August 7, 2023 peacefully at home.  She was born September 8, 1937 at St. Francies Hospital in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Elmer "Pete" and Evelyn (Mellentine) Helsinger.  Virginia married Allen Turner on April 9, 1955 in Fort Riley, KS.  She graduated from Highland Nursing School as an LPN and worked for 24 years at Monroe Clinic Hospital.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena.

Virginia is survived by her six children; Deborah (John Blair) Jordan of Stockton, IL, David (Lorraine) Turner of Freeport, IL, Sherry (Jim) Soehnlein of Madison, WI, Peggy (Dan) Korth of Stockton, IL, Stuart (Filomena) Turner of Vacaville, CA, Michelle (Steve) Christianson of Pearl City, IL, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, one sister; Judy (Phillip) Welty of Monroe, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Turner, her parents, one grandson Leo Gerke, and one great-grandson Timothy Jordan.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Lena Burial Park in Lena, IL.

Rev. Rick Bader will officiate the services.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
