Virginia M. Evans, 89 of Warren, IL passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Lafayette County Manor in Darlington, WI.
Virginia was born on March 23, 1924 in Woodford, WI, the daughter of Alfred (Skinny) and Jenny (Miller) Douglas. She married the love of her life, Wayne Evans, on September 11, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. They lived in the Darlington area until removing to Warren, IL in the 1960's where Virginia was employed and eventually retired from Micro Switch.
Survivors include three sons; Jerry (Sharon) Evans of Rockford, IL, Dennis (Karla) Evans of Palacious, TX, Dave (Becky) Evans of Gratiot, WI, Three daughters; Karen Odell of Madison, WI, Gail (Robert)Kopp of Benton, LA, Jackie (Steve) Dawson of Warren, IL twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a sister, Kathleen Armstrong of Madison, WI, a brother, Kenny (Charlotte) Douglas of Rockford, IL, two half-sisters; Patsy Halvorson of Madison, WI and Georgina Berg of Mt. Horeb, WI and sister-in-laws Avis (Howard) Douglas of Mineral Point, WI and Bonnie (Fred) McKenna of Lodi, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Glen, Howard (Bud), Jim and Bennie Douglas and sister, Peggy (Delbert) Malott and half-brother Lynn Halvorson.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed nothing more than having her family underfoot. No one left her table hungry and the family will always fondly remember her pancake breakfasts and special recipes that only she could master. Virginia enjoyed playing euchre (with a plate of cheese and crackers close by) fishing, camping, music and any activity that brought her children, grandchildren and extended family home to visit. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A gentle soul has been called home.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 26th at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Services will be on Wednesday, March 26th at 12:00p.m. at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren with Pastor Donna Hoffman officiating.
Burial will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Lafayette County Manor for the wonderful care of Mother for the short time she resided at the facility.
