Twyla June Leverton Schafer, 90, of Mesa, Arizona formally of Winslow and Freeport, Illinois, passed away on December 16, 2023.

Twyla was born February 10, 1933 in Winslow, Illinois, the daughter of Loris and Gladyce (Albright) Leverton. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1950 . She worked as a key punch operator at Micro Switch and Kelly Springfield in Freeport. She married the love of her life, Bernard Franklin Schafer on the Leverton farm in Winslow, Illinois on September 30, 1951. The family moved to Mesa, Arizona in June, 1971. There, she worked at Motorola, Salt River Project and Phoenix Suns.

Surviving are her three sons, Stephen (Peggy) Schafer of Marion, Kentucky, Russell (Lynette) Schafer of Rim Rock, Arizona, and Kyle (Amy) Schafer of Chandler, Arizona, her daughter Tracy Ann (Ron) Hayden of Mesa, Arizona. Also 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, parents, Loris Ralph Leverton and Gladyce Emma Albright Leverton, and younger brothers Daurel (Bud) Emmett Leverton, and Elton Jerome Leverton .

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Lily Rock Cemetery, Winslow, Illinois.
