Ted Olin Balbach passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington,
Wisconsin at the age of 91. Ted was the son of Olin Burr and Rosella (Haugen) Balbach. He was
born January 16, 1931, in Madison, Wisconsin. Ted graduated from Warren High School in
1949. He then attended the University of Wisconsin in Platteville for one year duty called. He
enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1950. Ted served his country from 1950 until 1954. He
obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force, he was stationed in El Paso, Texas
where he married the love of his life, Wilma Townsend on March 18, 1951. Ted did overseas
duty in Morocco. He was given an honorable discharge in 1954. The family moved to a farm
outside of Warren. Ted farmed the land he grew to love. Ted put his heart and soul into making
his farm successful. He was very skillful and could fix any kind of machinery. He believed in
making the best of what he had! Ted loved the outdoors especially hunting. He especially enjoyed hunting with his grandson Matt.  He looked forward to it every deer season.
After he quit milking, he drove bus for the Warren School District. He loved his bus children.
Some of them called him "Grandpa Ted". Ted and Wilma traveled many places. They especially
loved Hawaii and Alaska. They also loved to dance. It was very humbly to see them doing the
two step or a waltz.
Grandchildren were the light of his life. He would get involved with their many activities.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Warren, Masons, Eastern Star, and on the
Elmwood Cemetery Board for many years.
Ted had a smile that would light up the room!! He will be truly missed by many who knew him!!
Ted is survived by his wife of 71 years, Wilma, 5 daughters, Debra Becher of Stansbury Park,
Utah, Susan (Todd) Stone of Warren, Cathy (Scott) Brinker of Lena, Diane Davis (Dennis
Harwood) of Plover, Wisconsin, Joanne (Dave) Soper of Avon, Indiana. Eight Grandchildren:
Charity Brinker of Galena, Matthew (Kylie) Davis of DeForest, Wisconsin, Jamie (Pia) Davis of
Ann Arbor Michigan, Doug Stone of Shannon, Nathan Stone of Lena, Tyler, Conner, and Paige
Soper of Avon, Indiana. 3 great-grandchildren: Belle and Marigold Davis, Kameron Ted Davis.
Another great grandchild is due in November. Ted is also survived by sister-in-laws: Jane
Balbach, Reita Sheffey, Patricia Molitor and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Carson and John, his son-in-law Stuart Becher, his in-
laws: Claude and Irene Townsend, brother-in-laws: Harlan Townsend, Gordon Dawson, Darrell
Sheffey, Virgil Molitor, sister-in-laws: Doris Balbach, Beulah Townsend, Madge Dawson, a
great granddaughter in infancy, his niece, Kelly Kupersmith, his faithful dogs, Fido, Spotty, and
Rex.
Funeral service will be held at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home on Monday October 17, 2022,
at 12:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pastor Matt Smith will be officiating the Service.
Luncheon will be served in Fellowship Hall at the Warren United Methodist Church following
the service.

Cremation to follow.
A private family burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren.
A memorial has been established in Ted's name.
