Susan J. Upmann, 61, of Apple River, IL passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2016. Susan was born on September 14, 1955 in Dubuque, IA to Merlin and Rosemary (Licht) Kohnen. She married Lyle Upmann on February 18, 1992. She was a CNA at Ennoble Nursing Home and she helped her husband with their DJ service, She & I.

Susan is survived by her husband Lyle Upmann of Apple River, IL; children Amy Green and Sharon Andrews, Jason, Jolene and Justin Adams; two step daughters Tonya (Jeremy) Poe and Ashley (Terry) Brentlinger; seven grandchildren Shanaye Howard, Alex and Nathan Green, Destini-ti, Aziah, Zechariah, and Jasmine Bollock; five step-grandchildren Baileigh and Kayleigh Poe, Madison, Ayla, and Julianna Brentlinger; seven additional grandchildren; five sisters Pamela (John) Kass of Dubuque, IA, Nancy (Bill) Sanders of Dubuque, IA, Janice (James) Schultz of Dubuque, IA, Kimberly (Shane) Hyde of East Dubuque, IL, Carla (Bob) Heller of Dubuque, IA; three brothers Tom(Shawn) Kohnen of Dubuque, IA, Tim Kohnen of Florida, Jim Kohnen of Apple River, IL; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia Chaloupka, son James Adams Jr..

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Apple River United Methodist Church in Apple River, IL.

A visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Pastor Joe Garcea with officiate the services.

Interment will be at West Ella Highland Cemetery in Apple River, IL.

A memorial has been established for her memory.
