Steve L. Shelly, age 61 of Warren, IL passed away at his home on Friday, October 16, 2020.  He was born on October 15, 1959 in Freeport, IL, the son of Donald and Betty (Johnson) Shelly.

Steve worked in construction for the majority of his life and took great pride in this work. He enjoyed building houses, nature, boating, and antiques.

Steve was sacrificially generous with his time and skills to anybody who needed it. He deeply appreciated those that loved and helped him.  To call him "friend" was an honor.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer Pepper of Warren; daughter Maranda Blessing of Freeport; 2 grandchildren- Isaiah and Mazilyn; mother Betty Shelly Metz of Freeport; 3 sisters- Gena (Bob) Fryer of Freeport, Joyce Shelly of Lena, and Carolyn (Dave) Zuck of Dakota; his dog Peanut; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Donald and his brother Rindy Shelly.

A memorial service to be held at a later date.

Cremation rites to be accorded.

A memorial has been established in his name for lung cancer research and programs that educate and aid to quit smoking.
