Sophie P. Kleckler, 89, of McConnel, IL passed away on June 12, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born on February 15, 1928 to Fred and Louise (Brands) Affolter in Monticello, WI. Sophie graduated from Monroe High School in 1947 and then worked at Frito Lay until getting married and moving to the farm. She married Robert C. Kleckler in 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI. Sophie farmed alongside her husband on his family farm until her retirement. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena. Sophie enjoyed gardening and canning, and she also loved to dance.

Sophie is survived by her children Lynn (Gene) Ludewig of Florence, IL, Deb (Bill) Doolan of Lena, IL, Robin (Bob) Homan of Freeport, IL, Steven Kleckler of McConnel, IL, and Mark (Jayne) Kleckler of Monroe, WI, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2013, her parents, three brothers, eight sisters, and one grandson.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, IL.

A visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of services on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the church.

Sid Kemmis will officiate the services.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A private family burial will be at Lena Burial Park.

A memorial has been established in her name.
