Obituary

Rose Mary "Rosie" Lutz, age 90, of Lena, IL, formerly of Marshfield, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the SSM Monroe Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. She was born on November 27, 1934, in Marshfield, WI to John and Vivian (Hespe) Hessleberger. She was a 1952 graduate from Marshfield Senior High where she met the love of her life Merril. They were married on September 3, 1952, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield, WI and together they raised a family.

Rose Mary and Merril lived in Germany for a short time while Merril was stationed over there as an Army Medic before returning to the Northlake and Melrose Park, IL area.

She devoted her early years to being a homemaker while raising their five children. Once the children were older, she found joy in serving others as a waitress in the Lombard, IL area. Rosie loved polka dancing and playing cards with her family and friends.   She spent her retired years in Marshfield and Merrill, WI and her recent two years in Lena, IL with her grandson Alan Lutz.

Rose Mary is survived by her 2 sons- Roger (Trudy) Lutz of Inverness, FL and Daniel Lutz of St. Charles, IL; Daughter- Roseann Unger of Mt. Morris; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Merril, 2 sons- Roy and Joel; her longtime special friend Erwin Baumann and, and her beloved friend and devoted caretaker LaVonne Burke who graciously embraced her time with Rosie.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Leamon Funeral Home, in Lena IL. With a visitation from 1:00 pm until time of service.

Sean Huguenin will be officiating the service.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Burial will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Hillside City Cemetery in Marshfield, WI at 12pm. The family welcomes the public to attend.

A memorial has been established in her name.
