Rose W. Gates' Obituary
Rose W. Gates 93, of Warren, IL passed away at Waverly Place Nursing Home in Stockton, IL on Monday, June 15th 2015. Rose was born on January 13, 1922 in Nora, IL to Herman and Emma (Tessendorf) Hintz. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Donald Gates on October 14, 1943 in Fort Benning Georgia.
Rose was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Warren, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Rose was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her; pies, cookies and bread. Rose enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning and spent many hours working in her garden. Rose also enjoyed dancing and fishing with Don, family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children; Marjorie (John) Edwards of Highland, CA, Marlea (Stan) Goebel of Lena, IL, Kenneth (Brenda) Gates of Warren, IL, Jacqueline (Randy) Busch of Warren, IL, Norene (Duane) Grieser of Freeland, MI, and Michele (Mike Montgomery) Swofford of Sparta, WI . She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Lesa (Mike) Herms and their children Emma and Maggie, Nicole (Dave) Geraths, Amanda (Jase Barker and daughter Lily) Tippett, Ann Edwards and her daughter Hannah, Mike (Sarah) Edwards, Andrew Grieser, Emily (Richard) Bouvier and their daughter Lydia, Megan Busch, Jennifer (James) Foreman and their children Celia and Ira, Mathew (Nicole) Swofford, Brian Gates, and Timothy Gates. Rose is further survived by her brother, Mervin Hintz and sister, Gertrude Klopf of Stockton, IL. Sisters-in-law; Marilyn Hintz and Patricia Hintz of Warren, IL, and Eileen Hintz of Carmel, IN, brother-in-law; Wayne Gates of Warren, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her; husband Donald their children Sharon and Keith, her parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and a great granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, June 22, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Warren, IL
Visitation will be held from 1pm until time of service.
Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
A memorial has been established in her name.
