Ronald "Ron" D. Magee, 78, of Stockton, IL passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 with his family by his side at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on August 1, 1941 to Vernon and Neola (Gates) Magee in Freeport, he was the eldest of 14 children. Ron married Rita Evans on August 28, 1965 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton. Ron retired Kelly Springfield after 34 years. He was a hardworking man who worked in carpentry, electric, plumbing, and cement; he was a jack of all trades. Ron loved the outdoors and nature, where he worked in his flower and vegetable gardens, and enjoyed feeding the birds and the fish in his coy pond.
Ron would do anything for everyone, giving the shirt off of his back. He felt that providing for his family was his utmost responsibility. He was a proud grandpa and dad. Family was the most important to him, attending all of his grandchildren's events; especially sporting events and races.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rita of Stockton, three daughters; Amy (Richard) Kennedy of Machesney Park, Jodi (Scott) Townsend of Stockton, and Jill Magee of Virginia, grandchildren; Alivia, Peyton, and Christian Kennedy, Ascher, Taylor and Kirsten (Gus) Townsend, Faith and Cyrus Schrader, great-grandson Moxyn Werhane, siblings; Gary (Rose) Magee, Carol (Joe) Staver, Janet Behrens, Jimmy Magee, Johnny (Charmaine) Magee, Mike Magee, Stephen Magee, Gene (Teresa) Magee, June (Dave) Bergemann, Trisha (Boyd) Cox, numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Patrick Magee, Mary Raab, and Tom Magee, and a nephew Jeremiah Magee.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton.
A visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton.
Father Michael Morrissey will officiate the services.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
