Richard "Dick" L. Marchel, age 77 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2022 in Freeport, IL. He was born October 23, 1945 to Emmel and Nellie (Heath) Marchel in Seattle Washington. In 1963, Dick entered the United States Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, he did various jobs in the Agriculture Field. For about 20 years he did long haul trucking until he married Marilyn Snapp in 1988. Together they managed various hotels on the West Coast until his retirement.

Richard lived his life as a devoted Christian and was a very faithful man. For many years they hosted exchange students that they now consider family. He enjoyed watching The Seattle Seahawks, and the New York Yankees. Dick lived to the fullest and always gave 100% in every aspect of his life.

Richard is survived by his wife Marilyn of Freeport; son-Brock (Libby) Marchel of Seattle; 2 grandchildren- Jeremiah and Zachariah; brother-Ron (Carmen) Marchel; 2 sisters- Kay (Ken) Paton, Janice (Wayne) Brown all of Washington; 4 sister-in-laws; many nieces and nephews; 3 exchange students- Uwe Scheiter of Germany, Gaelle Bossis of France, Marketa Kopescky of Czech Republic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son- Dustin, brother-Emmel "Buster"; in-laws- Ed and Eileen Snapp; brother-in-law Robert E. Snapp.

Pastor Keri Rainsberger will be officiating.

Private Family Graveside Services will be held.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
