Richard "Dick" Hepner, age 77 of Lena, IL, passed away on April 29, 2026. He was born November 6, 1948, in Freeport, IL to John and Sarah (Best) Hepner. Dick proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps. On April 16, 1988, he married Marilyn Burkhardt at Lake Kegonsa, WI. He was a devoted member of Grace Episcopal Church in Freeport, IL as well as a member of the VFW and American Legion Post # 577 in Lena.  Dick enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, reading, swimming, and spending time with his beloved dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn of Lena; siblings- Jon (Gail) Hepner of Kerrville, TX, Elizabeth (Jim) Beck of Columbus, WI, Doug (Kathy) Hepner of Germantown, TN, Janet (Bob) Gothard of Lena, IL, and Dave Hepner of Dodgeville, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Erin Hepner, and his "Grandma" Eity.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Grace Episcopal Church in Freeport, IL, with a luncheon to follow.

Officiating will be Father George.
