Obituary

Freeport-Richard S. Haas, age 89, formerly of Warren passed away on Tuesday July 22, 2014 at his home in Freeport. He was born February 23, 1925 in Stockton, IL to John Peter and Elsie Sarah (Wurster) Haas. In 1949 he served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. In 1951 he returned to farming with his brother in the Rush Township area of Jo Daviess County, IL. In 2011 he moved to Freeport, IL. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Warren and the Warren American Legion. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading Western and Military stories. He enjoyed going to the antique tractor and engine shows and working on engines.

Richard is survived by a brother Fred Haas of Warren, sister Martha (Terry) Love of Freeport, Nieces and nephew Paul Lee Haas of Warren, Karen (Ron) Larson of Mt. Morris, IL, Joan Sundvall of Rockford, IL, Eric Sundvall of Oregon, IL, Aaron (Tracy) Love of Freeport, IL and Inga Love of Freeport, IL. Five great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Emma K. Sundvall, Frieda E. Haas and Evelyn M. Haas, brother in law John Sundvall and sister in law Beverly Haas.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday July 25, 2014 at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.

Pastor Barbara Otten will officiate.

A memorial has been established in his name for the Warren American Legion.
