Obituary

Richard "Rich" Briggs age 80, of Orangeville passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. He was born on May 8, 1938 to Forrest and Clara (Trumpy) Briggs. He married Alice Clark on August 3, 1958 at the Clarno EUB Church, together they raised 5 children. He farmed in the rural Clarno and Orangeville areas, drove truck and did carpentry work.

He was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church, past Odd Fellows member of Orangeville, Orangeville Fire Department, a supervisor for Oneco Township, and Board of Directors for the Eagle Nature Foundation in Apple River, IL. Rich also served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.  He enjoyed woodworking, tractor pulls, driving antique tractors, bowling, traveling to the Sand Hill Crane Foundation during the migration in Platte, Nebraska and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Alice of Orangeville, 5 children; Alan (Connie) Briggs of Warren, Jon (Leanne) Briggs of Orangeville, Lisa (Rodney) Allen of Juda, WI, Dean (Melissa) Briggs and Brian (Valerie) Briggs all of Orangeville. Grandchildren; Erica (Nathan) Schumaker, Kayla (Jered) Bourquin, Heidi (Adam) Ditzler, Troy and Tim Allen, and Benjamin, Nathan, and Remington Briggs. Great Grandchildren; Shayanna, Laney and Charlee. Brother; James (Sharon) Briggs and Sister; Alice (Mike) Siedschlag

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Briggs.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Orangeville United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 9:00 until the time of service.

Officiating will be Pastor Judy Sherk.

Burial will be at Oneco Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Orangeville Fire Department and the Monroe Hospice.
