Pauline A. Trost, age 92 of Lena, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 16, 2026 at Mercyhealth Hospital-Freeport. Pauline was born on October 4, 1933 in West Point Twp., Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Pohl) Miller. She married Glenn Trost, on October 4, 1951 at the Nora Community Church. When she was 16, she moved to Freeport with her sister, Mil, and worked at BB Dry Cleaner until her marriage when she worked alongside her husband on the farm. She also worked off the farm in the cafeterias at Lena-Winslow High School and Elementary for 42 years. One of her favorite things on the farm was cultivating the corn using their Farmall C. Pauline was a member of the Park Hills Church of Freeport, and in the last couple of years enjoyed attending the Evangelical Free Church of Lena. She enjoyed playing in her monthly Euchre group, mowing her yard, and talking with family and friends. Pauline also loved to bake and always made the best homemade noodles and chocolate chip cookies. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pauline is survived by her son Delvin (Mae) Trost of Lena; two grandchildren – Trisha (Dale) Forrester of Gulfport, MS, and Colin (Karla) Trost of Boilingbrook, IL; three great-grandchildren – Sydnee, Max, and Zoee Forrester; and sister Inez Meier of Lanark, IL; special "granddaughter" Minsook Park, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, siblings – Allen (Betty) Miller, Lola (Babe) Baumgardt, Sylvia (Carl) Kohl, Harlan (Lula) Miller, Mildred (Bob) Mayer and Eleanor (Ray) Handel, brother-in-law Edward Meier, sister-in-laws Gladys (Harold) Schneider, Sylvia (Leo) McKinstry, and brother-in-laws Harry, Howard (Eva Mae), LaVern, Ellsworth "Eddie", and Clarence (Mary) Trost.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday May 23, 2026, at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday May 22, 2026 at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena.
Officiating will be Pastor Casey Dwyer.
Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, with luncheon to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name for the Evangelical Free Church of Lena and Park Hills Church.
