Freeport-Pauline R. Altenbern, age 90 passed away on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at Liberty Village Manor Court in Freeport, IL. She was born on July 8, 1924 in South Wayne, WI to Ray H. and Agnes O. (Hartsough) Jones. She married Clifford Altenbern on September 19, 1942 in Warren, IL. Pauline was the bookkeeper for the Warren School system for many years. She loved to sew and do crafts and her family and friends were delighted to receive her handmade gifts. She was a devoted fan of Norman Rockwell's work, and collected many Rockwell items. She loved to travel, and in her later years she also traveled overseas, visiting New Zealand, Australia and the UK. She was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Rebekah's Lodge and Modern Minerva's.
She is survived by her son; Stephen J. (Nancy) Altenbern of Colchester, IL, son in law; Ernest F. Brose of Freeport, IL, four grandchildren; Laura (Devin ) Hickle of Astoria, IL, Matthew J. (Lori) Brose of Davis, IL, Jason T. (Amy) Altenbern of Plainfield, IL and Sarah J. Brose of Freeport, IL. Four great grandchildren; Kathryn and Ainsley Altenbern, Rachel Hickle and Cameron Brose. One brother; Bruce (Betty) Jones of Florida.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Clifford on June 19, 1981, daughter; Krysella J. Brose, two brothers; Gerald "Jerry" Jones and Delvin Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday February 16, 2015 at the Warren United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Officiating will be Pastor Roger Bronkema.
Internment will take place at a later date.
A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Warren United Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society.
