Norma (Mammoser) Stiefel, age 87, passed away peacefully after a short illness on September 20, 2014. She was born in Winslow, IL on January 6, 1927 – her mother's birthday – to Ralph and Edna (Mary) Mammoser.
Norma is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Weaver of Vancouver, WA and Shirley Smith of Apple River, IL. Also surviving are her four children, Sherry Cancelose (Gary Auman), Lynette (Dick) Ellsworth, Thomas (Paula) Stiefel, and Steven Stiefel. She loved to cook and bake and the benefactors were her 11 grandchildren, Jon, Bill, Christopher, and Nichole Sperry, Alesia (Jacobsen), Aric, and Allison (Spidahl) Ellsworth, Brooke (Haas) and Brittany (Robinson) Stiefel, Christopher Stiefel, and her step granddaughter, Michelle (Glowacki) Doyle. Also surviving are 28 great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.
Caring for and loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her life; she loved her job at FHN, and her trips to Dubuque, or as she said, "I have to go West for a little bit."
She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Doris Mahon, Marjorie Cowell, and Cheryl Brinkmeier.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
