Norma Jean Hasken 80, of Stockton, IL passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at FHN Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born on April 1, 1940 to Lawrence and Margaret (Wienen) Hasken in JoDaviess County, IL. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie Du Chien, WI in 1957. She spent 12 years in the convent, Sacred Sister of Notre Dame. She went back to George Williams College in Downers Grove and graduated in 1972 with a degree in applied behavioral science. She went to work for food service companies and was a manager in the Chicagoland area for 7 years. Norma Jean owned and operated Cano's Inn, in Apple River, IL for 9 years, Cano's Family Restaurant in Stockton, IL for 15 years with her partner, Carol Roberts. She also worked for seven years as a home healthcare aid. Norma Jean was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton, IL where she was active in comfort keepers. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting various crafts, and getting together with her family and friends.
She is survived by her brother- Richard Hasken of Freeport, IL, two sisters- Darlene (Mike) Collin of Hugo, MN, and Betty DeMichele of Freeport, IL, an aunt- Gen Wienen of Galena, IL, nine nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, nephews John Hasken and Jason DeMichele, sister-in-law Ruth Hasken, brother-in-law Frank DeMichele, and her lifetime partner, Carol Roberts in 2017.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton, IL.
A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.
Father Michael Morrissey will officiate the services.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Apple River, IL.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
