Obituary

Mildred M. Pohl, 97, of Freeport, formerly of Lena, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Pearl Pavilion in Freeport.  Mildred was born on April 10, 1920 in the Lena area, the daughter of George and Elsie (Wolfe) Meiers.  She married Oscar G. Pohl on February 26, 1938 in Dubuque, IA.  Mildred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and traveling.

She is survived by her two daughters; Nancy Cartwright of Silvis, and Kay (Wayne) Walker of Freeport, grandchildren; Christine Hauck of Freeport, Michael (Val) Rice of Lena, Sandra (Michael) Dosch of Moline, Pamela (Daniel) Green of Rockford, and Brenda Phillips of Middleton, WI, Pamila Florea of South Korea, great-grandchildren; Brittany (Obi) Aduba of Boston MA, Matthew, Benjamin, and Ryan Dosch of Moline, Emily (David) Daub, and Nathan Green of Rockford, Jennifer and Madison Phillips of Middleton; great-great-grandchildren, Berkley, Adanna, and Tyler.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar on April 4, 2006, an infant daughter Ruth Ann, two grandsons; Steven and Kenneth Rice, a great-grandson Nicholas Rice, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 21, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena.

A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services on Monday, at the church.

Rev. Rick Bader will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lena Burial Park in Lena.

A memorial has been established in her name for St. John's Lutheran Church, Hospice Care of America, or to a Charity of your choice.
