Michael “Mike” Morgan, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Atrium Health Floyd Cherokee Medical Center in Centre, Alabama. The son of Eugene and Mary (Penticost) Morgan, Mike was born on March 1, 1947, in Gadsden, AL. Mike married Sharie Edge on May 3, 1969, in Colorado Springs, CO.
At the age of 17, Mike’s mother signed his early enrollment paperwork to join the United States Army, where he proudly served his county in Vietnam. He faced many challenges when he came back home after being severely injured by a helicopter blade, but he always pushed through and persevered. When he and his family moved to Illinois, he started a job at Atwoods in Stockton, IL before finishing his career as a Pump Builder at Industrial Combustion in Monroe, WI. Mike and Sharie enjoyed camping, taking many trips to Lake Le-Aqua-Na and Branson, Missouri. They were members of Good Sam’s and Al’s Vagabond Camping Club for many years. Mike was very active in numerous community service organizations throughout his life, as well as serving on the Warren Town Board for several years.
Mike is survived by his two children - Todd Morgan of Warren, IL and Brett (Brandy House) Morgan of Leesburg, AL; three grandchildren - Kaylee Morgan, Shaina Kraft, and Micah Morgan; one sister-in-law: June (Tom) Shanahan, two brother-in-law: Robert (Joyce) Edge and Richard (Gayle) Edge, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sharie in 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL. With a visitation from 10:30 A.M. until time of service.
Pastor Matt Smith will officiate the service.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
