Merlyn "Curly" Wallace Knapp, age 75 passed away on Friday March 11, 2016 at FHN Hospital in Freeport, IL. He was born on March 26, 1940 to Wallace and Bernice (Williams) Knapp. He was employed at Lunde's Truck Sales, he delivered mail and also worked as a mechanic. He loved to garden, spend time with his family camping and fishing and to tinker in his garage whenever he got a chance.
He is survived by three children; Kimberly (Kevin) Dose, Tammy K. Knapp and Robert W. Knapp. Nine grandchildren; Danielle Dose, Chelsey Dose, Bailey Dose, Bridget Bumford, Justin Knapp, Robyn D. Knapp, Lily Knapp, Luke Knapp and Sophie Knapp. Five great grandchildren; Kylie Bobo, Austin and Lynzie Bumford and Elija Pitsenbarger. Two brothers; Wallace (Marlynn) Knapp and Carl Knapp, two sisters; Wanda Knapp and Mary (Greg) Roush. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother Geraldine Knapp, sisters Willa Chorlton, Janet Klein and Darlene Knapp and a niece, Julie Ann Roush.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Lena Community Center.
A memorial has been established in his name.
