Melodie Scheider, 73, of Lena passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI.  She was born on October 13, 1945 to John and Evelyn (Hage) Esmond. She graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1963, and then went on to Cosmetology school. She married Darrell Scheider on June 13, 1964 and together they raised three children. Melodie owned and operated her own salon in her house for many years. She also owned and operated the Ben Franklin in Lena for many years. Melodie also worked for Swiss Colony for 10 years. She was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, where she was active in many church activities. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Melodie was an avid bowler and golfer, loved the Green Bay Packers, going on cruises, motorcycle trips, snowmobiling trips up north and boating on the Mississippi River.

She is survived by her children; Barbara (Troy) Lobdell of Darlington, WI, Dann (Angel) Scheider of Antioch, IL and Scott (Lorri) Scheider of Collierville, TN, grandchildren; Courtney, Casey (Morgan Fitzsimmons), and Carson Lobdell, Charlie, and Alexander Scheider, Renee and Andrew Scheider, siblings; Betty (Fritz) Werhane, Karen (Richard) Spinhirne, Patricia (Ron) Mahon, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, IL.

A visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of services at the church.

Rev. Rick Bader will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lena Burial Park in Lena, IL.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established in her name for St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, IL.
