Mary Elizabeth Guentner, 91, of Freeport, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.  Mary was born on July 18, 1926 to Walter and Mildred (Koehler) Biesemeier in Eleroy.  She graduated from Lena High School in 1944.  Mary worked at Northwestern Telephone Co. from 1944-1946, and was later employed by Ringer Jewelry store until she and a partner opened the Korner Boutique.  Her last job was with CH Little Company.  Mary was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and active in many circles and other church activities.   She was also a past president and member of Pearl City American Legion Auxiliary and Quota Club International of Freeport, a member of Friends Forever Humane Society, the Lena Historical Society, Stephenson County Genealogy Society, past president of Downtown Business Association.  Mary loved spending time with relatives and friends.  She was a long time sponsor for children in Haiti and other countries.  Mary liked, animals, to travel, work on genealogy.

Mary is survived by numerous cousins, her church families, and her neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Grant.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church in Freeport.

A visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of services on Tuesday, at the church.

Burial will be at Eleroy Cemetery in Eleroy.

Pastor John Lee will officiate the services.

A memorial has been established in her name.
