Marjorie Leverton Gerber, 91, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, IL. Born July 22, 1923 in Warren, Illinois, she was the oldest child of Milton and Grace (Rowe) Beecher.
She graduated from Warren High School and also completed two years of nurses training in Rockford, IL. In addition to being a busy farm wife, she also worked many years as a traveling health trainer, teaching the basics of medical and dental health to grade school children at the secondary schools in JoDaviess County. Marjorie was also very active in the Warren, Illinois chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary. Marjorie enjoyed traveling, golf, and spending time with her family and friends.She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two sons, Terry (Winnie) Leverton, Normal, IL and Brad (Mary) Leverton, Blue Mounds, WI; daughter-in-law, Cathy Leverton, Bloomington, IL; 9 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Franklin Leverton; son, Rick Leverton; second husband, Edward Gerber; sisters, Barbara Beecher Brennan and Betty Beecher Blough; and one brother, Thomas Beecher.
Following her desired cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7th, 2015, at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 AM.
Pastor Randy Booth will officiate at the service.
A luncheon at the Warren American Legion Hall will follow the service.
