Red Oak- Margaret M. Scheider, 87, of Freeport, IL passed away on Sunday August 10, 2014. Margaret was born on April 20, 1927 in West Point Township to Guy Hunter and Vera Elizabeth (Wyman) Timmerman. She was a 1945 graduate of Lena High School. She married Lyle G. Scheider on March 2, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He passed away on March 24, 1984. Margaret farmed for 33 years alongside her husband on their farm near Red Oak and then worked at the Stephenson County Farm Bureau as a secretary for 16 years until retiring.
Margaret was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lena, IL until she moved to Freeport, IL where she became a member of St. Thomas's Catholic Church. Margaret treasured her time with her family and friends. She was active in her children's school activities, organizations and especially sports. She also enjoyed traveling, pleasurable moments "going to the pool" and playing a variety of games including cards, bunko with her monthly bunko group and scrabble with her grandchildren.
She is survived by seven children: John Scheider of McHenry, IL, Jim (Mary) Scheider of Springfield, IL, Marsha (Ed Clifton) Richardson of Lewes, DE, Karl (Karon Shippy) Scheider of McConnell, IL, Beth (Daylon) Becke of Cedarville, IL, Mary Lynn (Wayne) Albright of Orangeville, IL, Kevin (Lori) Scheider of Grand Island, FL; nineteen grandchildren: Amy (Steve) Wishard, Tim (Deanna) Scheider, Jeff (Audrey) Scheider, Brian (Michelle Mazanik) Scheider, Stacy (Corky Dawson) Scheider, Kristy (Dennis) Tripp, Paul (Manie) Homan, Julie Cahoon, Jesse (Brookly) Becke, Jason (Susan) Albright, Craig (Shannon) Albright, Tiffany (Joe Tamborello) Albright, Kristopher (Chelsea) Scheider, Stefanie (Jeremy) Sanford, Scott Scheider, Roger Cavitch and Caylin Gilbert. Also surviving are twenty-seven great grandchildren and great grandson baby boy Tripp, due in September; two sisters, Clara McAllister of Lemont, IL and Anna Mae Roth of Clinton, WI and two sisters-in-law, Theora Magee of Evansville, WI and Dorothy Timmerman of Machesney Park, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret is preceded by her parents, husband; two grandsons Brandon Albright and Chad Cahoon; one sister, Alice Scholl; three brothers, Francis, John and infant Paul Timmerman; three brothers-in-law, Coy McAllister, Martin Scholl and Robert Roth; one sister-in-law Marion Timmerman and one daughter-in-law, Marj Scheider.
Funeral services are at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a visitation from 10:00 till time of service.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Leamon Funeral Home.
Officiating will be Rev. Andrew T. Skrobutt.
Burial will at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Lena.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
The family would like to extend a special acknowledgement to FHN Hospice, in particular, Cheri Gertsch and Autumn in which words cannot describe the love and comfort they not only provided to "mom" but also to the family as a whole and also to the staff at Prairie Ridge Apartments: Julie, Jen, Kay, Bill, and Dave who were a true extension of "mom's" family along with her fellow residents for their love and support.
