Lyle A. Reed, age 95, of Dakota, IL passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.  He was born on March 2, 1929 to Russell and Mary (Walker) Reed.  Lyle was a 1947 graduate of Orangeville High School.  On February 1, 1950, Lyle married Cynthia Dunaway at her parents home in Afolkey, IL.  Lyle was a lifelong farmer in the rural Dakota area.  He started his career as a dairy tester, and shortly after he married Cynthia, they became dairy and hog farmers.

Lyle enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and playing cards; especially euchre.  Forth of July celebrations were Lyle's favorite gatherings every year, his favorite part was shooting off the fireworks at night.  Lyle also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Lyle is survived by his wife Cynthia, children; Mary (Randy) Cummins of Freeport, Barbara (Dale) Simpson of Freeport, Curtis (Molly) Reed of Winslow, and Martin Reed of Dakota, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a brother Keith (Darlene) Reed, sister-in-law Iris Reed, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Peggy Reed in 2023, sisters; Lois Moyer, Norma Raab, and Phyllis Frautchy, and his brother Wayne Reed.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville, IL.

A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville, IL.

Pastor Roger Bronkema will officiate the services.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A private family burial will take place at Rock Lily Cemetery in Winslow, IL at a later date.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
