Leo W. Upmann, 71, formerly of Apple River, IL passed away at his home in Warren, IL on June 27, 2016. He was born September 25, 1944 to Joseph and Margaret (Vogt) Upmann. Leo was one of seven children with three siblings still living. They are; Bill (Donna) Upmann of Warren, IL; Helen (Larry) Noble of Gratiot, WI, and Lyle (Sue) Upmann of Apple River, IL. Leo married Janet Koehler on October 17, 1964 in Apple River, IL. Together they celebrated almost 52 years and raised four children. They are: Gene (Annmarie) Koehler of Quincy, MA; Kevin (Lori) Upmann of Warren, IL; Ken Upmann of Dubuque, IA; and Kerri (Nicholas) Ruf of Darlington, WI. Leo and Janet were also blessed with eight grandchildren, one great-grandson.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandson, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Jim and Joe Upmann; a sister Aggie Williams; five brothers-in-law and many other family members and friends.

A visitation will be from 4-7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Cremation rights have been accorded.

Leo will be sadly missed by family and friends, but fondly remembered as the "entrepreneur" of Leo Upmans Grocery of Apple River, IL.

A memorial has been established in his name.
