Mr. Lee Otis Shadle Sr of Wilkesboro, NC died Saturday July 1 ^st , 2017 at Villages of Wilkes Senior Care in North Wilkesboro N.C.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on September 9 ^th , 2017 in the Lena Burial Park, Lena IL.

A fellowship will follow the services from 4:30-7:30 PM at the Lena Methodist Church.

Mr. Shadle was born in Stephenson County Illinois on April 20, 1927 to Thomas and Viola Campbell Shadle. He worked many jobs over the years as electric meter reader, feed sales, government contacts manager, and hardware store salesman. Besides his family, his passion in life was most fulfilled by service to country and community. He was a WWII Navy Medic, a fire fighter for Lena IL, and instructed first aid classes to hundreds across northern Illinois. The last 35 years he devoted much of his time to helping others find sobriety.

Lee was married to Betty Retzlaff on Feb 6, 1956. He is survived by three daughters, Julie Wickham and husband Ray of Sumerduck, VA. Annette Howard of Darien, GA, Christina Shadle (Max) of Reno, NV, one son, Lee Shadle Jr and wife Debra of Moravian Falls, NC., four grandchildren, Drew McMillan, Garrett (Diana) McMillan, Reed Wickham, Hannah Howard, one brother Leroy Shadle and wife Virginia of Freeport IL, sister-in-law Dorothy Shadle of Lena IL. Additionally, from his first marriage, children Gary Buss (Marcia), Bonnie Curran (Jerry), and Leslie Buss.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty, his parents, two brothers Donald Shadle (Florence), and Daryl Shadle, four sisters Mildred Shadle, Helen Gartner (Dutch), Lucille Hintz (Fred), Bernice Welt (Elston), son-in-law Kenny Howard, granddaughter Calyssa Wickham, and grandson Joel Shadle.
