Larry
Woolcock
Apr 3, 1953 — Nov 5, 2017
Larry Woolcock, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend went to his eternal home to be with the Lord, family and friends November 5th, 2017. Age is no longer important as he will now always be young and healthy.
Larry graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1972, married his blind date, Christine Thill, on November 1 st , 1973, and together they started their family in August 1974. Family was extremely important to Larry, and he loved spending time with all of them, especially his granddaughters. He was known to go out of his way whenever he could to help with them. He enjoyed visits with family and friends either by phone or in person. "Uncle Lare" as he is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, was always good for a laugh. Larry enjoyed his work as a manager and machinist in injection molding for many years ending a long career at PNC in Polo, IL, in December 2013. In his spare time, he loved boating on the Mississippi River. For a number of years he rented part of an island from the Army Corp. of Engineers with his brother Jerry, and they kept house boats there. Larry and Jerry were known to take a pontoon boat up to Bellevue, Iowa, for breakfast on many weekends. Once Larry could no longer boat, he still liked to come watch the river and particularly enjoyed watching Bald Eagles in early spring and leaves change colors in the fall. Larry's primary love was his dedication in faith to Jesus our Lord and Savior. He shared that love and passion with his church family at the Evangelical Free Church of Lena. He enjoyed helping with Awana, VBS, and attending bible study. He will be greatly missed by all.
Larry is forever etched in the hearts of his loving wife Christine Woolcock (Thill), daughters Laurinda (Nathan) Howe, Talena (Scott) Wuebbels and granddaughters April Woolcock, Jennifer Wuebbels, Elizabeth Wuebbels and Olivia Howe. He will be forever loved and remembered by his sister Faye (Darryl) Wybourn, sister-in-laws Kay Woolcock and Karen Woolcock, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a few aunts and uncles. The family welcoming him to his eternal home with Jesus are his parents, Clarence and Selma Woolcock (Olson), one sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Tom Costello and two brothers Edward Woolcock and Gerald Woolcock. Larry's family wishes to invite family and friends to join in the celebration of Larry's life. Visitation services will be held on Monday, November 20 th , 2017, from 4pm to 7:30pm at the Evangelical Free Church of Lena. Memorial services on Tuesday, November 21 st , 2017, at 6pm. Attendees are invited to share in a light meal after the funeral service. Graveside services will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Larry's memory. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com.
