Kathleen M. Shumaker's Obituary
Lena- Kathleen M. Shumaker, age 87, passed away on Thursday May 15, 2014 at the Lena Living Center. She was born on January 5, 1927 in Freeport, IL to Rudolph and Hazel(Derr) Schulz. She married Calvin C. Shumaker on June 21, 1947 at the Amity Lutheran Church in Lena. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, visiting with grand and great grandchildren.
She is survived by five children- Gerald (Joann) Shumaker of Green Valley, AZ, James (Bonnie) Shumaker of Fort Collins, CO, Karen (Jerry) Cross of Lena, IL, Clint (Sorina) Shumaker of Las Vegas, NV and Neal (Cyndy) Shumaker of Lena, IL; a brother Leonard Schulz of Freeport, IL; two sisters Vivian (Eugene) Hesselbacher of McConnell and Jean Wenzel of Lena; Thirteen grandchildren- Troy (Michele) Shumaker of Sunnyvale, CA, Dr. Nick (Jayne) Shumaker of Fort Collins, CO, Jill (Dr. Jason) Reuter of Spokane, WA, Ryan Cross of Oak Creek, WI, Meghan (Justin) Oliver of Las Vegas, NV, Mollie Shumaker of Lake Port, CA, Shannon (Craig) Albright of Lena, IL, Cody Shumaker of Cleveland, MS, Whitney (Juan) Paredes of Platteville, WI, Larynn Shumaker of Naperville, IL, Larry (Tia) DeLong of Lower Laker, CA, Sharon Cova Zamora of Las Vegas, NV and Shanna Cova Zamora of Lima, Peru; Twenty great grandchildren- Cole and Sydney Shumaker of Sunnyvale, CA, Jackson and Sophia Shumaker of Fort Collins, CO, Henry and Paige Reuter of Spokane, WA, Emily Cross of Oak Creek, WI, Kameryn and Lillie Wilson of Freeport, IL, Shayleigh, Khayne, Layton and Grayson Albright of Lena, IL, Riley, Julian and Aiden Paredes of Platteville, WI, Macie Anderson and Paul Oliver of Las Vegas, NV, Bailey and Shane DeLong of Lower Lake, CA.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, granddaughter Mellissa Shumaker in 2009 and brother in law Edwin Wenzel in 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday May 19, 2014 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM till time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Officiating will be Pastor Miranda Klosterboer.
A memorial has been established in her name.
