Obituary

Karen R. Wall of Freeport, IL passed away February 12, 2022 at Highland Ridge of Williamsburg, Iowa.  Born October 17, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa, she was the daughter of Duane and Rachael (Glanz) Jones.  Karen grew up in Lena, Illinois and Freeport, graduating Freeport Hight School in 1959. She attended Sterling School of Beauty Culture after graduation.  She was a beautician in Freeport and Watertown, New York.  Later she was a legal secretary in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and retired from one of the law offices.  She also worked at St. Luke's Hospital as the Lifeguard Air Emergency Secretary.

For her school years, Karen was an active member of Lena Methodist Church.  She enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs as well as other sports, reading and baking with her mother, as well as playing cards and games with her parents.  She spent every summer of her grade school years at her aunt and uncle's farm in Iowa helping with chores and enjoyed spending time with their animals. She went on several trips and loved travelling with her family however, spent her later years in a quieter environment. She loved being with her daughters, sons, and their families as well as her sisters and parents.

Karen was the loving mother of Krista Daly, Papillion, NE (Scott), Koleen Polito, Avon, OH (Tony), Michael Todd, Cedar Rapids, IA (Jeff) and Scott Gunder, Iowa City, IA (Jodi).  She was the beloved grandmother of Ryan Daly, Omaha, NE, Rachael and Abbey Polito, Avon, OH, and Evan Gunder, Iowa City, IA.  She is survived by two sisters Julie Wenzel (Alan) and Jan Uecker both of Illinois.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachael and Marvin Uecker.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 19, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, IL with visitation beginning at 9:30AM, followed by a service officiated by Rev. Rick Bader at 11:00AM.  A private family graveside service and burial will follow at Lena Burial Park.
