June R. Carpenter, 98, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Stockton Rehab and Nursing Center. June was born June 1, 1916 to Bennie and Selma (Svaeren) Engebretson on their homestead in Grassybutte, ND. June married David H. Carpenter on February 20, 1936 in Fairmont, ND. David died February 2, 2002.
June attended a rural school, and then graduated in 1934 from Fairmont North Dakota High School. She attended Business School after her graduation. June and David moved to Kent, IL on December 5, 1949 when David joined the State Bank of Kent.
June belonged to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Kent, served in all the organizations of the church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, scrabble and family gatherings.
June is survived by her two sons; Paul (Dolores) of Freeport, and Philip (Margaret) of Aptos, CA, five grandchildren; Paula Carpenter, Brita (Eric) Saxby, Eric Carpenter, Kristin (David) Graner, Laura (Richard) Delaney; seven great grand children; Konner Dadaz, Adrianna Carpenter, Chloe and Camryn Saxby, Olivia and Mia Graner, and Eamonn Delaney.
Preceding her in death are; her husband, her parents, two brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 1:00 pm on January 3, 2015 at the St. Paul's. Lutheran Church in Kent, IL
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Leamon Funeral Home Lena, IL
Pastor Carole Andres will officiate the service
Burial will held at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport, IL
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the St. Paul's Lutheran Church
