John E. Swinda, 79, of McConnell, IL passed away at the Lena Living Center on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.  He was born on April 16, 1944 in Ottawa, IL to Ernest and Mabel Swinda.  John worked for Illinois Central as a brakeman and switchman on the railroad.

John married Lynann Mains in December of 1967, and together they raised two children.

John is survived by Lyn, his son Robert (Jennifer) Swinda, and daughter Jacquelyn (Darin) Diffenderfer, five grandchildren, and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew.

Per John's request, no services will be held.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
