John C. Bollman, 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 24, 2018, from ALS. John was born April 11, 1952, in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Peter and Margery (Vickery) Bollman.

John grew up in Lena, Illinois. He graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1970. He began his college career at Highland Community College in Freeport, Illinois. He then transferred to Northern Illinois University for a semester before finishing his degree in accounting at Northern Arizona University.

After college John worked at First National Bank in Beloit, WI. He then followed in his father's footsteps and began his career at Lena State Bank in Lena, IL. From an early age John had a passion for baseball. He was the commissioner for several fantasy baseball leagues of which he won many. On April 5, 2008, he married the love of his life Nancy Bollman. John loved spending time with his family and would never pass up an opportunity to go out to eat.

John was known for his storytelling, humor, and kind heart. He had the knack to recall vivid stories that kept everyone entertained. John impacted everyone he knew. He will be missed by all.

John is survived by his wife, Nancy Bollman of Genoa City, WI; his brother, Michael Bollman of Lena, IL; his three children, Angela (Kyle) Hunter of North Liberty, IA; Josh Bollman of Milwaukee, WI; and Jacob (Samantha) Bollman of Brighton, IL; and one stepson Luke Leger of Woodstock, IL. He is also survived by his four granddaughters, Aubrey, Kaylee, McKenzie, and Kinley. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on October 13, 2018, at Lena United Methodist Church in Lena, Illinois, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Association of Wisconsin or Geneva Lake Manor.
