Obituary

Janet E. Mittelsteadt, age 84 of Warren, passed away surrounded by her family on December 17, 2025, at Lafayette Hospital in Darlington, WI.

She was born on January 3, 1941, in Green County, WI, the daughter of George and Bessie(Sweeney) Broege. (as she told her girls that she was pooped on a bird post). Janet married Albert Mittelsteadt during a bad snowstorm on March 15, 1959, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Warren. They had to take a pickup truck to go and pick up people for the wedding. Janet worked at Mirco Switch for many years before she retired. In her free time Janet enjoyed camping and going to the casinos. She also liked riding 3 wheelers dressed as clowns in parades, and doing Word Search Books.

Janet is survived by her husband Albert of Warren; daughters- Penny (Bob) Hole of South Wayne, WI, Paula Coletti of Sun Prairie, WI, and Tricia (Jeff Broege) Gates of Browntown, WI; grandchildren- Damon (Kim) Pax of Warren, Cassi (Mike) Kriebs of Warren, Amber (Tyler) Ritschard of Argyle, WI, Mackenzie (Brian) McCauley of Gratiot, WI,

Tiffany (Josh Viel) Gates of Monroe, WI, and Dalton Gates of Browntown, WI, Cory Mittelsteadt of Oconto, WI, Johanna Gleason of Sun Prairie, WI, Jagena Gleason of Sun Prairie, WI; great-grandchildren- Cynthia (Shane) Bardell, Alayna, Masiey and Cole Waters, Brody, Paxton and Keaton Kriebs, Paisley, Landon and Avery Ritschard, Makena, Michael, Brianna and Blake McCauley, Eva Center, Hazeley and Embree Viel, Jayden Tolley, Grayson Edwards, Eli Edwards, River Gleason; great-great grandchild Graham Bardell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; In-laws William and Florence (Bird) Mittelsteadt; brothers- Dwight Broege, Elwin Broege (whose remains have never been recovered from the Korean War); sister- Verla Swift-Folgate.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, December 30,2025 at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

A memorial has been established in her name.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
