Jane E. Parks, 50, of Lena went to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday March 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 29, 1966 to Joseph and Sylvia (Stone) Maurer in Freeport, IL. She married Jeff Parks on May 6, 1989 in Freeport, IL and together they raised four beautiful children. She worked in the graphic design department at Newell, she then moved into product development. She later went home, as a stay at home mom, to home school their youngest two sons. While she stayed home, Jane was also the Superintendent of Recreation at Lena Park District. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Lena. Jane was very devoted to her family, and missionary work, traveling to Honduras twice and Africa once. She loved anything artsy, hats, reading, and was exceptionally passionate about her faith, taking any opportunity to share it with others.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 27 years Jeff, her children; Maxwell of Stevens Point, WI, Madison (Ethan) Pickard of East Dubuque, Samuel and Elliot both of Lena, her father; Joseph (Jewel) Maurer, her mother; Sylvia (Stan) Bomgarden, brother; Timothy (Julie) Maurer, sister; Sarah (Chris) DeHahn, mother-in-law Lila Parks, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her father-in-law Edward "Bud" Parks.
A celebration of life will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church in Lena.
A visitation will be from 9-12:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the church.
Pastor Jim Erb will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory.
Jane requested that everyone who attends her service, wear their favorite hat.
