James G. Shick, 85 passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Center in Freeport, IL.
Jim was born on March 15, 1930 in Lena, IL; he was the son of George and Lucille (Simmers) Shick. On May 7, 1949 he was married to Betty J. Kent in Freeport.
Jim worked for Civil Construction Heavy Equipment operator for 30 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #687 in Orangeville, IL. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and greyhound field trials. He was also an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
He is survived by five children- George "Skip" (Connie) Shick of Westby, WI, Tom (Mary) Shick of Lena, Kathy (Mike) Munz and Charles (Marilyn) Shick both of Cedarville, IL, and Terrie Fogel of Lena; Fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty who passed June 25, 2007, two brothers Robert and Floyd and one sister Pauline Ditmeier.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville.
Officiating will be Pastor Skip Shick.
Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
A luncheon will follow the services at the Eagles Club in Freeport.
