James W. Kurth, age 87 of Freeport, IL passed away at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born in Gratiot, WI to Herman and Blanche (Bennett) Kurth. He married Sharon Martin on October 7, 1961. James was a lifelong dairy farmer, who enjoyed Nascar, fishing, cats and feeding wildlife.

He is survived by his 7 children- Karmen (Jim) Moore of Freeport, Dawn (Fred) Demeter of Stockton, Karl (Vicki) Kurth of Rock Grove, Kevin (Tracy) Kurth of Freeport, Lisa (Clyde) Mueller of Cazenovia, WI, Jamie (Megan) Kurth of Clinton, IL and James (Heather) Kurth of Lanark, 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and sister-Marilyn (Gerald) Adkisson of Hoxie, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, sisters Dorothy, Sandy and Delores, brothers Pete and Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. till time of service on Wednesday.

Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
