James "Jim" Erwin Jr. 60, of Indianapolis, IN formerly of Kent, IL passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Indianapolis. He was born on January 4, 1957 in Freeport, IL to James Sr. and Helen (Myers) Erwin. James was a 1975 graduate of Pearl City High School, a dairy herdsman until he became too ill to work. Gardening was his passion.

James is survived by children; Tom(Maria) Stewart, Dessa (Perry Johnson)Stewart, and Mary Kay (Ryan) Handel, four grandchildren, his mother; Helen Erwin of Lena, IL, special friend, caregiver and mother of his children; Kristin Erwin, brother; Steve Miller of Pearl City, sister; Cyndy (Neal) Shumaker of Lena, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; James Sr., one sister-in-law; Pauline Miller, and one niece; Mellissa Shumaker.

A private family service will be held.

Cremation rites are accorded.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
