Obituary

Jacob "Jake" T. Schiess Jr. 92, of Lena passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. Jacob was born in Waddams Township on June 10, 1921. He was the son of Jacob and Ellen (Fels) Schiess. He married Phyllis Ann Downs on August 11, 1945. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2010. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942-1945, serving in the European Theater during WWII. Jacob landed in Normandy, France, at Omaha Beach on D-Day as part of the First Army. He also was part of the Rhineland campaign under General Patton and awarded six campaign stars. He was a member of the Stockton American Legion Post 449. Jacob had the top dairy heard in the county for 10 years. In retirement he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and playing cards, especially euchre.

Jacob is survived by his children Pat (Buck) Simmons of Stockton, IL, Don (Judy) Schiess of Stockton, IL, Lana Hermann of MO, Deb (Dave) Noll of Stockton, IL, Mike Schiess of Lena, IL. He is also survived by grandchildren Brad Simmons, Wendy (Al) Nowviock, Brian (Vicky) Simmons, Allen Schiess, Lenora Alongi, Quin Hermann, Vince (Chas) Heath, Alissa Adams, Derek Noll, Rachel Schiess, Ryan Schiess. Great grandchildren Amber Nowviock, Adam Nowviock, Benjamin and Joseph Chacko, Jared Trampel, Aidan King, Kaylie Heath, A.J Heath, Noä Heath, Zoe Adams, Cameron Adams, Ganon Noll and one great-great granddaughter Maddalyn Nowviock. One brother Robert (Bev) Schiess, two sisters Marie Mason and Nellie Carstenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2014 from 4-7:00 pm at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Officiating will be Pastor Brian LeBaron.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Warren, IL.
