Henrietta Bourquin, 94, of Apple River, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community on Saturday, March 23, 2019. She was born on February 12, 1925 to Joseph and Ruth (Scheidecker) Backus in Stockton, IL. Henrietta's school years were spent with Marie Parks and her best friend Jackie (Parks) Goodman at the Parks Café in Stockton. She was a Stockton graduate, and received her teaching degree from NIU in DeKalb, IL. Henrietta married Robert J. Bourquin on June 13, 1947 in Stockton; he preceded her in death on January 15, 1993. Henrietta was a teacher for the Warren School district for many years. She was a member of the Apple River United Methodist Church and the Flagler Beach United Methodist Church in Flagler Beach, FL. She enjoyed spending her winters in Flagler Beach, FL for most of her retired years, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Henrietta is survived by her children Diane Bourquin of Greenfield, WI, Susan Bamberg of Flagler Beach, FL, Jon (Jeanne) Bourquin of Apple River, IL, and Jerry (Stephanie Edwards) Bourquin of Black Earth, WI, grandchildren; Kelly Bourquin of Chicago, Jered (Kayla) Bourquin of Decorah, IA, and Justin (Kortney) Bourquin of Mt Horeb, WI, and a great-granddaughter Kelsey .

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert

, son-in-law Andy Bamberg, and her brother James Backus.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established for the Apple River United Methodist Church and the Flagler Beach United Methodist Church.
