Apple River- Harlan H. Koehn, 87, of Apple River passed away on Thursday, January 7th 2016 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. Harlan was born on March 19, 1928 in Woodbine, IL to Herman F. and Josephine V. (Hoppe) Koehn. Harlan married Edith Mae Bourquin on September 29, 1947 at the Apple River United Methodist Church she preceded Harlan in death on August 9, 1999.

Harlan was a hard worker and throughout his lifetime he farmed in the JoDaviess County, Thompson Township area. He also worked at Kelly Springfield Tire Company as a tire repair man for 25 of those years and retired in 1993 from Kelly's. Harlan always enjoyed gathering with friends solving the world's problems over a cup of coffee.

He is survived by sons; Terry of Freeport, Steve of Scales Mound, Randy of Apple River and a daughter Mary J. Koehn of Freeport. One sister; Leone Fitzsimons grandchildren; Staci, Nicholas, Sonya, Samantha, Jeremy, Alexis and Kirk who passed away in 2014, two great-grandchildren; Alex and Benny. He is also survived by his Black Lab and faithful companion Buddy.
He is preceded by his parents, son; Tim Koehn in 1980, son; Jamie Koehn in 1987, sisters; Lucille Andrews, Marguerite Hodgin, Vera Geilenfeldt

Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM. Saturday, January,16, 2016, at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. at Bartell Leamon Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Cremation Rites were accorded and private family burial will take place at West Ella Highland Cemetery Apple River.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.

A luncheon will be held at the Warren Community House following services at the funeral home.
