Gordon "Gordy" E. Breed passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family. Gordy was born on January 16, 1950 in Freeport, the son of Gerald and Elsie (Scherr) Breed. He attended Warren schools then enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Wickler Copeland Post #464 and a former volunteer fireman for Warren Fire Department. Gordy worked at Janlin Plastics, McKenna Trucking, Don Brown Trucking, and Gerlach Farms. Gordy enjoyed working on cars and tractors, driving in demolition derbies and stock car races; collecting Case tractors, going to auctions; building benches and being around his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Gordy married Marilyn "Bunny" Morrissey on October 2, 1993 in Cuba City, WI.
Gordy is survived by his wife Bunny of Nora; son Nick (Brandi) Breed of Dakota; grandchildren Ella, Brody, and Madelyn; brother Dennis (Donna) Breed; nephews Corey Breed, Scott (Tina) Trost; nieces Mindy (Shawn) Sauer, Shelley (Matthew) Thompson; grand nieces and nephews Meranda, McKenzie, Masyn, Michael, Meridyth, Kaley, Tanner, Andrea, and Chelsea; father and mother-in-law Bill and Shirley Morrissey; sisters-in-law Carolyn (Donald) Allendorf, Jacqueline (Phil) Austin, Sandra (Todd) Walowit, Rose (Dennis) Voigts; brothers-in-law Steven (special friend Sandy) Morrissey, Casey (Mary) Morrissey, John (Darcey) Morrissey, Billy (Sheila) Morrissey, George (Tammy) Morrissey, and Jason (Farrah) Morrissey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Sandy Trost.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.
A visitation will be from 4-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.
Randy Nicholas will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
A memorial has been established in his name.
