Warren- Glenn William Schaible, 98, of Warren, IL passed away at Stockton Healthcare and Rehab on Tuesday, August 13, 2014. Glenn was born on December 14, 1915 to William and Ruth (McKinley) Schaible in rural Hanover, IL. He was the youngest of four children. Glenn graduated from both Warren and Apple River high schools. He married Helen Bourquin on November 22, 1945.
Glenn was a lifelong farmer in the area, even after moving to Warren in 1980, he helped on the family farm until age 90. He believed in hard work, often saying, "hard work is not going to kill anyone." He was a John Deere man starting in 1949 after buying his "B." He was an avid reader, reading two newspapers every day. He loved to fish in his younger years, attend antique tractor pulls, collecting arrowheads, gardening, watching his grandsons play football and basketball. He loved family gatherings and telling stories; he enjoyed sharing them with relatives, neighbors and friends. Glenn was a diehard Cubs fan, and a Chicago Bears fan. He and Helen enjoyed bus trips throughout the United States.
Glenn is survived by his son; Roger (Linda) Schaible of Apple River, IL three grandsons; Scott, Christopher Schaible, both of Apple River, IL and Ryan Schaible of Galena, IL, daughter-in-law; Patsy Schaible of Elizabeth, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on January 4, 1999, son Rodney in 1986, and his sisters Ora Wadleigh, Jesse Pettigout and Violet Radden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday August 18, 2014 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.
A visitation will be held on Sunday August 17, 2014 from 3-6:00 PM at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.
