Gerald Edgar Aspinwall, 77 of Pearl City, IL passed away surrounded by his family, and Tiger (his beloved dog) while watching Gun Smoke, on November 20, 2017. Gerald was born June 9, 1940 in Freeport, IL to Kermit and Leona (Peck) Aspinwall. Gerald married Linda DeSutter on Feb 3, 1968 on the family farm in Freeport, they were married 49 years. Gerald hauled milk and gasoline in the Pearl City area, was a long time mechanic at Meyer's Ford in Freeport, IL, and retired from Iroquois Foundry in Browntown, WI in 2006. Gerald enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River teaching his daughters to water ski, spending time with his 2 grandsons Christopher & Kyle Aspinwall, his granddaughter Tanya (Mike) Truman and their 2 sons Tyler and Trae, as well as his 3 neighbor girls Shyanna, Laney, and Charlee (Adam & Heidi) Ditzler.
Gerald is survived by his wife Linda; his daughters Lindy Aspinwall; and Dena (Joe) Blakely; sister Sharon (Stan) Johnson; his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were both of his parents Kermit and Leona Aspinwall, his brother Russell and wife Janet Aspinwall. Gerald requested that his remains be donated for medical research. There will be no funeral services, however there will be a Celebration of Life at Slurp and Burp in Loran IL, Sunday, December 10 at 6 pm.
