Obituary

Floyd M. Coad, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2017. He was born on October 17, 1930 to Stanley and Myrtle (Hess) Coad in Apple River, IL. He married his first great love, Evelyn J. Quittschreiber on August 14, 1951 in Lena, IL and was her loving husband for 50 years, until she went to her heavenly home in 2001. He was blessed to find the second love of his life, marrying Donna King in 2003.

Floyd served our Country in the United States Navy from 1951 till 1955. He then returned home to work with his father in the family business, owning/operating Coad Well and Pump Company which was started by his grandfather in 1886. He was very well respected in the community, being a hard working, loving, kind and generous man, who was always up for a good hand of poker or a trip to the casino. Floyd was a jack of all trades, and could fix anything. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Apple River, where he served as an elder for many years. He served on the school board of the Warren School District for many years, as well. He was a member of the American Legion and the Apple River Lions Club. To his beloved grandchildren he was Papa, and was treasured and loved by all of them.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna of Tulsa, Ok; three daughters - Shirley (Jeff) Thompson of Warren, IL, Susan (Jerome) Vondra of Apple River, IL and Cynthia (Jeff) Aurand of Freeport, IL; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four step-children - Sylvia (Don) Ellsworth of Katy, TX, Bill (Julie) King of Traverse City, MI, Jim (Teri) King of Tulsa, OK, Tom (Allison) King of St. Cloud, FL; 14 step-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; two brother's-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Evelyn, one brother, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday January 30, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.

Private family funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday January 31, 2017.

Officiating will be Bill King.

Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
