Florence E. Klentz, 104, of Freeport, formerly of Lena, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Manor Court in Freeport, IL. Florence was born on August 11, 1921, in Rollfield, MT to Jacob and Florence (Skinner) Paul. She married Kenneth Klentz on August 21, 1938, in McConnell, IL. Florence and Ken raised two daughters and farmed in West Point Township near Lena. Florence was also employed by Micro Switch for 24 years until her retirement in 1983.
She was a devoted daughter of God being a long-time member of the Lena Baptist Church where she enjoyed helping maintain the church and classrooms. When she moved to Freeport she became an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Florence always found great joy singing hymns.
Florence enjoyed completing puzzles, dancing with her husband, and adored her family.
Florence is survived by two daughters: Mary Florence Moore of Freeport and Patricia Ann Vance of Salinas, CA; four grandchildren: Scott (Patricia) Moore, Melody (Brad) Jordan, Kevin (Betty) Moore, and Kenneth Vance; great grandchildren: Adrienne (Josh) Beck, Julian (Jean) Moore, and Kenneth (Abigail) Moore, Aaron VanSteenvoort, Shaun Moore, Tauna Moore, Angela (Adam Krieger) Moore, Emily (Fernando)Vance- Lira, Kenneth Vance III and numerous great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather John Siefert, husband Kenneth, sons-in-law: Gary Moore and Kenneth Vance, siblings: Charles (Betty) Paul, Clarence (Alberta) Paul, Ed (Charlotte) Paul, Frank (Olive) Paul, Alma (Carl) Goebel, and Caroline (Meno) Bahr.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 12:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene in Freeport, IL.
A visitation will take place at the First Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm.
Pastor Rachel Smith will officiate the service.
Internment will take place at the Lena Burial Park in Lena, IL.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
