Obituary

Florence "Flo" Chapin, age 96, passed away on Saturday April 29, 2023 in Lena, IL. She was born on May 7, 1926 to Frank and Sarah (Enns) Dick in Mountain Lake, MN. She graduated from St. Mary's College of Nursing in 1947. On September 2, 1949 she married Neal Chapin in Mankato, MN and they spent the next three years in Ames, Iowa while he attended veterinary school at Iowa State University. In 1952 she and Neal moved to Lena where Neal joined the Chapin Veterinary Clinic. Flo spent her early adult years raising their two daughters, participating in various community activities and projects as well as playing bridge every Tuesday afternoon with her friends. In her later years, she entered the real estate business and spent the next 50 years helping people with their real estate needs. It was a job she loved.

In Flo's free time she enjoyed golfing, polka dancing, playing cards (especially Bridge and Euchre), attending Bridge potlucks, boating, and spending time with her family. Throughout her years she was part of numerous organizations such as Beta Sigma Phi and P.E.O. and served as a board member for Lena Continental Manor (now Lena Living Center) and Malcolm Eaton. She was a member of the Lena United Methodist Church and served on various committees.

Flo is survived by her two daughters Nancy Chapin of Lena and Barbara Kaiser of Rockford; grandchildren- Andrew (Courtney) Kaiser, Matthew (Charlotte) Kaiser, and Katherine Kaiser; great grandchildren- Jack, Eleanor, and Caroline Kaiser; favorite nephew Dr. Gary Chapin and several great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. Neal Chapin in 2001; son-in-law Stephen Kaiser and two nieces.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL.

A memorial service will take place at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Lena United Methodist Church in Lena, IL.

Pastor Keri Rainsberger will be officiating the service.

A private family burial will take place at the Lena Burial Park.
