Evelyn Chapin Sandahl, age 96, of Lena passed away on March 15, 2014.

She was born in Dodge County, Minnesota on November 14, 1917, the daughter of Cleon P. and Nellie (Bell) Chapin. Evelyn attended and taught in country schools and later received her bachelor and master degrees in Home Economics from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Evelyn married Everett Sandahl after a whirlwind courtship in 1952. They were happily married until Everett's death in 2009. She taught Home Ec. for many years at Riverside Brookfield High School in Brookfield, IL and was chairman of the Home Ec. Department when she retired. After retirement, Evelyn and Everett moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and spent many happy years traveling the country in their motor home, visiting friends, family and seeing the sights of our beautiful nation. She loved to entertain and was the hostess of many gatherings of friends. Cooking, sewing, and teaching were her passions.

Survivors include her sisters in laws; Hazel and Flo Chapin both of Lena, nieces; Nancy Chapin of Lena and Barbara (Steve) Kaiser of Rockford, a nephew; Dr. Gary (Jennifer) Chapin of Blanchardville, Wi, several great nieces; Katie Kaiser, Christine and Cameron Chapin, great nephews; Andrew and Matthew Kaiser and Cole Chapin and many cousins.

Preceded in death; by her parents, her beloved husband Everett; brothers; Dr. Wayne Chapin and Dr. Neal Chapin, a niece Jill Chapin Freye .

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena.

Visitation will be from 10:30 till time of service. Officiating will be Pastor Brian LeBaron.

Burial will be held at Lena Burial Park.
