Evelyn J. Rice, 89, formerly of Lena, IL passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 in South Shore, KY. She was born on January 28, 1931 in Beloit, WI to Bernard and Vera (Hammel) Mattison. Evelyn married Worley "Red" Miller on July 16, 1949 and together they had 12 children, he preceded her in death. She married Jerome Rice, and together they had one child, he also preceded her in death.

Evelyn did factory work throughout her working years. She loved gardening; especially her flower beds, and humming birds. Family was the most important thing to Evelyn.

Evelyn is survived by her children; Johnny (Anita) Miller of South Shore, KY, Pat (Mark) Rodebaugh of Orangeville, IL, Connie Miller of Freeport, IL, Linda (Mark) Fernsteadt of Magnolia, DE, Kathy (Curt) Scheider of Freeport, IL, David (Joy) Miller of Ligonier, IN, Mary Lou (Randy) Gabel of Montello, WI, Diane (Jorge) Fernandez of Stockton, IL, Scott Miller of Madison, WI, Dawn (Don) Gray of Oregon, WI, Staci (Fritz) Siegenthaler of Montello, WI, and Jamie Rice of Shullsburg, WI, stepchildren; Chris Hauck of Freeport, IL, Mike (Val) Rice of Lena, IL, Kevin (Melanie) Rice of Rockford, IL, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister Betty Ritter of Beloit, WI.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Red and Jerome, a son Mark Miller, and two grandsons Nick Rice and Brandon Cooper, two stepsons Steve and Kenny Rice, and three brothers.

In light of recent events, funeral services will be private.

Burial will take place at Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell, IL.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
